Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW)
Srinagar,Jan 24: Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) will be observed on Friday with reverence, devotion and religious fervour in Jammu and Kashmir as special functions would be held across the state at various shrines and masjids.
The biggest function will be held at Hazratbal Shrine here where thousands of devotees would offer special prayers and have glimpses of the holy relic of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Last night special prayers were held at various shrines and masjids which were illuminated with candles.
To ensure hassle free and safe travel of devotees from their respective localities to Dargah Hazratbal, the traffic department has chalked out a route plan that will remain in force from January 25 till February 1. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Governor NN Vohra and opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have felicitated people on this auspicious occasion.
In his message, Omar Abdullah said the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) provides us opportunity to pray and seek forgiveness and blessings from the Almighty for the entire mankind. “Let the day be harbinger of peace and development for the state and the country”, Omar has prayed. Governor N. N. Vohra, in his message greeted the people and hoped that this auspicious occasion would be a harbinger of harmony, peace, progress and prosperity in the state.
He has described Islam as a religion of peace and said that this holy day marks the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), whose life is an embodiment of love, equality and brotherhood and has prayed for the well being of the people of the state. National Conference President and Union Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah has felicitated people on Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW).
While wishing people happiness and prosperity, Dr Abdullah in a message has prayed for the progress and well being of the state.

In their message of greetings the two leaders said that Islam as a religion of peace and brotherhood has been brought to us through the Holy Prophet (SAW) whose whole life is an embodiment of love, equality and brotherhood and his birth anniversary is a red letter day for entire humanity.
Among other leaders who extended their greetings to the people include Muzaffar Hussain Beig, Tariq Hameed Karra, Moulvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari, party general secretary Muhammad Dillawar Mir and Deputy Speaker Muhammad Sartaj Madni.
Minister for Higher Education Muhammad Akbar Lone and Minister of State for Animal and Sheep Husbandry Nazir Ahmad Gurezi, have greeted the people on Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) and hoped that this auspicious occasion would be harbinger of harmony, peace, progress and prosperity in the state.
Minister for Hajj and Auqaf Peerzada Muhammad Syed Friday exhorted upon the divisional administrations to ensure proper arrangements at all religious places, including shrines and masjids. The minister asked them to ensure hassle free transport facilities to the devotees.
Chairman Legislative Council Amrit Malhotra, Minister for Finance A R Rather, Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir, Minister for CA&PD and Transport, Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan have greeted the people on the auspicious occasion.
